Monthly Archives: April 2014

Coming Soon!

simplewhatnots2Coming in July:  Kim Diehl’s Simple Whatnots Club!

Kim has designed a set of mini quilt patterns exclusive to this club using her new Vintage Farmhouse line of fabrics and we have ordered the entire line for you!

Click Here to visit the Henry Glass blog to see the fabrics and read about Kim and her latest book.

Our own Jonnie Miller will be leading this group which will meet once a month.  Each month you will receive a pattern for a small (none larger than 40″) project and can purchase the kit.  Jonnie will take you through the techniques needed for the project.  This is a great way to learn new piecing and applique techniques without committing to a big project!

We’ll post more details as we get closer to the first club meeting, but if you’d like to be first in line for a spot in this fun monthly club leave a comment below or call the shop at 336-765-9099.Stitch In

Make a Beaded Scarf

Chakra Shawlette

I love lightweight, quick-to-knit scarves to wear this time of year.  Not long ago I spied this yarn from Mango Moon and knew we needed a sample made.

There are several free patterns on the Mango Moon website, and lots of interesting projects on Ravelry.

I decided I wanted something slightly wider in the center and tapered on the ends.  I found pictures of what I liked, but no instructions.  I had to make my own pattern!  You can make this in an evening or two.

Hope you enjoy it!

Beaded Shawlette

1 skein of Mango Moon Lepore or Chakra

Size 13, 32″ circular needles

Cast on 32 stitches.  Knit one row.

Row 2: Using the backward loop method, cast on 8 stitches then knit the rest of the row. Repeat Row 2 until you have 112 stitches. Continue to knit each row without further increases until about 5 yards of yarn remain.  Bind off loosely.  Enjoy!2014_04_16_0142

Wouldn’t you love to find this in your basket this spring?

Hope you can help us Celebrate Friday!

Happy Stitching!

Celebrate Friday!

Stitch In

Bring your handwork and sit around the big front table or stake out a spot in one of  the classrooms for cutting out or machine sewing.  Long tables, irons and our two classroom sewing machines will be available or you can bring your own.

There is no charge to attend and you don’t have to call and sign up–just show up!  This is not a workshop for fixing mistakes or learning new techniques, just a fun, social stitching time.

Join us beginning this Friday, April 18 from 2-6 for the Friday Stitch-In.  There WILL be snacks!!
