Today we will be open from 10 am-5 pm. No classes tonight!
I spent way too much time yesterday catching up on emails. I had saved this Knit Bits email from DECEMBER(!!) to share with all you sweater knitters. I love seeing how each woman styled the same sweater and how the sweaters look on “real people”. There are more “Style Your Knits” articles on the Berocco Blog.
Consequently, I have added 2 sweaters to my Ravelry favorites and will start on them fairly soon so that they will be ready for next fall. The Flaherty sweater didn’t catch my eye in the pattern book since it looks too slouchy and too blah on the model, but I love it on the ladies in the video! The Ellen Cardigan (free pattern at the bottom of the email) will come soon. I love the color combo and love working with the Ultra Alpaca AND I think we have all the required colors in stock!!
Off to finish one (of many) lingering sweater projects so I can start another! I’ll let you know what’s coming next as soon as i decide!!
Hope you’ll have time to make some stitches today too!
My first completed project on 2015 is the Corkscrew Hat. I started it on December 30 and binge-watched Season 4 of Downton Abbey to get it finished. That might be why my model, Blanche, has such a 1920’s air about her!
I used Malabrigo Worsted for the gray and winter white Ultra Alpaca from Berroco. The two yarns together make a super-soft, warm hat perfect for my morning walk–so no excuses for me! I am starting the companion mittens asap!
I am teaching this hat starting Thursday if you’d like to make one for yourself.
Now for the Give-away: It’s time to order more Malabrigo and more Ultra Alpaca and I’d love your help. Visit the Berroco and Malabrigo websites, choose your favorite color combo and leave a comment below or on our Facebook page by Monday, January 5 at 6 p.m. You get to help me with my order and I don’t have to make all those decisions on my own!
We’ll do a random drawing from all the comments for a chance to win a skein of Malabrigo and a skein of Ultra Alpaca.
Enjoy the rest of this dreary weekend and don’t forget to nominate your favorite colors!

We are working short hours this week while we spend time with our families and do the dreaded inventory!!! Store hours are here
Last night I started working on a new hat project while watching this.
Hope you find LOTS of stitching time in the days to come,
This time of year lots of us are making gifts for those we love.
Knitting or stitching a gift is often risky: we’re devoting time, money, time, supplies, and especially time to making something that we think is perfect for the receiver, but will they REALLY like it and use it and TAKE CARE OF IT?? Will they say, “thank you” and then stuff your creation in a drawer? Well, last Christmas I made these handwarmers and a cute hat for my friend Rachel.
This week she sent out this picture. Her hands are warm and so is my heart.
Happy November 1st! Better than a bag of Reese’s Pumpkins is the latest Dream Club offering! We all think this is one of the prettiest yet: a rainbow of lace weight wool, silk, and alpaca. So much better for your waistline!
The exclusive pattern designed for this yarn has a beaded option and will only be available to Dream Club purchasers for the next two months.
These yummy skeins will go fast, so come by as quick as you can or call the shop with your plastic in hand to reserve your skein.
